Change is our friend.

*WARNING. I'm not as funny as Brandon. so you won't be laughing out loud for this one ;)

If you don't know already, we're moving back to Dallas in THREE WEEKS! We're both super excited. (not excited for the 18 hour drive or paying for a u-haul but....) We 're so anxious to just get our stuff & go! Oh, change. How much I welcome it right now. While others hate change, I have learned to enjoy it. This change is especially exciting! We have been wanting to move back for a lonnnnnnnng time. We had lunch with this family in our ward on Sunday and realized we have been here for way too long. We both moved to Utah in 2011! What the heck are we still doing here?! haha In honor of our move, we have decided to make a list of why we're excited about living in Texas.

Brandon's List:
1. Whataburger
2. Real BBQ
3. Lakes
4. Fishing
5. Family
6. Chicken Express
7. Popeye's Tuesday Special (apparently Utah's one & only Popeye's doesn't honor this)
8. Mavericks games
9. Rangers games
10. Jack in The Box

My list:
1. It's not Utah
2. There are things to do (besides Trafalga)
3. If it snows... everything shuts down!

So there you have it.... Texas, here we come!

Slave labor...

Posted by Unknown , Saturday, June 1, 2013 8:04 AM

Some people find themselves dedicated to different things. For some it's sports teams, for others it's their favorite restaurant. And for most it should be and is their families. Well let me tell you what I'm dedicated to..... My job.

This is the part where everyone can make fun of me. I'll wait til you're all done.

Oh let's say about 180 years ago, I would've been the best slave you ever did see. Loyal, hardworking, never talks back, and always there doing my job. All the other slaves think: i hates the food, I hates my hut, I hates the masta, I hates the work, and I definitely hates being a slave! But no, not me I love it! All the other slaves want to riot and escape. They wanna be free they say. Well I say I have a good life and I don't need to be free. Why on earth would a slave say that?!? well thats because the slave doesnt really understand that hes a slave. And Well... All that changed today, because today I realized that I was in-very-deed a slave!

Reason number one: I work without question
Work: Brandon its gonna be really busy tomorrow and we really need to some help.
Brandon: Of course ill come in early tomorrow and help out, I'd love too! Ill just work a 12hr shift. It's gonna help everyone out.

Reason number two: they feed me
Work: we knows its been really busy so we brought you all some food to make it all better
Brandon: oh I love pizza! (i really do :) ) thanks for my two slices. They'll make the dizziness and pain in my head go right away!

Reason number three: im afraid of the whip
Work: we know you don't feel good, but strap in and keep on working!
Brandon: of course I don't want my ranking or your opinion of me to drop, ill get right on it
(Passes out from exhaustion)

Today was rough, I worked really hard and I felt awful afterwards. I tired to think why I did it, but all I could think of, and feel, was the throbbing pain in my brain. I think I told myself I was talking care of my family. I think I told myself ill have a really good paycheck. But what I should've told myself was: you're a slave fool! But you know what that's ok because I like my job and I like the people I work with. Its actually a really great place to work and i like it. Sometimes, like any job, it can suck. But that's life and I deal with it. And besides all the other slaves rioted and tried to escape and what happened to them?? Huh?!?!? Well I don't know, haven't actually heard from them. But that's ok! I'm here and I like it. I got everything I need right here at the plantation, I mean work. And maybe I am a slave! But I like my life. It's a good one and its mine. Maybe one day ill want to be free and runaway, but today isn't that day. Today I just realized I was a slave. But that's ok, my wife likes to take my socks off at night and say: look at them slave feet. So there you go..

Tomorrow at noon, right on the dot, guess where I'll be. Yea you guessed it... Work

(I hope they bring us wings tomorrow!!!)

Raise your hand if you like to eat...

*raises hand*

We all love to eat. Well, most of us anyway... I've had such a hard time with OUR eating habits & trying to change them. It drives me crazy! I'll eat healthy all day & then Brandon comes home & mentions our favorite chinese food restaurant... GAME OVER. A few years ago, I lost a ton of weight but I was super strict about what I ate. It actually messed my body up because I wasn't eating healhty... just deprived & working out a lot. I don't want to deprive myself again and Brandon doesn't do very well with diets either so thats not an option. Let's be honest... Brandon & I are foodies so instead of trying to not eat things... I've been looking for recipes that allow us to eat the food we love (pizza, cookies, etc) but waaaaaay healthier. At the end of the day, I just want us to be healthy. I'm sure I'm not the only one out there with things struggle.

I love cookies... & I tried this super easy recipe for cookies that changed my life. They are literally just bananas, oatmeal, & of course chocolate chips. WAY BETTER than regular cookies. I'm sure they aren't for everyone but I love bananas so I win! :) In Brandon's case, he loves pizza. Boy can straight up eat pizza all day, every day. (what is it with men and pizza?) I'm on the hunt for a healthy version to make at home for him.

I would love to hear things you guys have tried. Seriously. I will try (almost) anything. Sharing is caring. :)

my yummy healthy cookies *drool*

Brandon's turn!

Oh, I just love adventures! I hope everyone is excited to come along for ours! We all love Facebook and twitter and foodilicous Instagram... But here is where you'll get all the dirt and all the fun from our lives. Maybe if you're lucky, you'll get the occasional insanely hilarious work story from me.

YES. This is happening....

Brandon & I think blogs are fun so we're starting one. I'm sure it will mostly be me posting on here but that is fine. We figured it would be nice especially for our families since they are all states away from us. Family and friends can keep up with what is going on in our lives.

Our first update? Sure. Lets get started...

There is a lot going on for both of us since we're juggling school and work, even through the summer. Fall semester will be my last so I'm trying to get through summer and move on to the beginning of the end. I'm really excited but exhausted. I haven't taken a break from school since I moved out to Utah in May 2011! The nice thing is that my last semester will only consist of TWO classes. Yay! Brandon on the other hand has a few years left since he didn't go to school before going on his mission (oops!) but he has been working so hard & stacking up classes every semester. He got his Associates degree from Mountain View College so he is working on his Bachelors at Utah Valley University. We're both just ready to be done with school. Senioritis for me.... Brandon is just done with homework. Haha.

Our schedules keep us here when we dream of going on a vacation... somewhere far, somewhere new. Oh, do we need a vacation! *Donations will be accepted* ;) haha

Anyway... after almost 7 months, our little basement feels like home now. Ironically, we'll be moving at the end of summer. Put it all together just to take it apart. Haha! Oh well.. that is life, isn't it? I love our little cave but I'm ready to move on. I can't even believe we're coming up on our 7th month of marriage. We're almost to a year! Where does the time go? Jeez.

Well... this is it for now! :)
